With fall mini sessions approaching, I’ve been getting asked a handful of questions. So, I wanted to put together a blog post to share it all with you guys!
I often am asked if mini sessions are just for kids and the answer is no. They’re only called mini sessions because they are shorter in time. Sometimes you may not need or want an hour-long session. You may simply want a few photos from a session. That is why mini sessions were created. It also helps me take care of all of my clients since it’s such a high demand season.
Mini sessions are a great option for anyone (couples, families with any aged kids, or individuals) looking to get high-quality photos taken for the holidays or to simply remember a certain season or time of life. The time of your mini session may vary depending on your photographer.
Most mini sessions take about 15 minutes and you may be surprised to find that is often all you need. Here are a list of some frequently asked questions and answers to them that may be helpful.
FAQ:
1. What do I need to bring?
Make sure and bring a smile! If you have little ones, bring snacks and something to drink for them. I find letting them bring their favorite stuffed animal or toy also works! Taking photos is new to them so letting them bring something they feel close to will help them feel more comfortable.
2. What time should I arrive?
Make sure to ARRIVE ON TIME. It is very crucial that you arrive at least 10 minutes before your time slot begins so that you have enough time for parking and walking to the meet-up spot. Mini sessions are often held on one day, with back-to-back sessions and no time for pushback in between sessions. So, if you are late, that time will, unfortunately, be taken out of your session.
3. What should we wear?
Make sure to plan and coordinate your outfits ahead of time. The best tip I can offer is to be comfortable. Try and stay within the same color scheme when taking family photos. Also try not to mix too many prints and patterns. If someone wears plaid, then try and wear a solid outfit (dress or shirt). Layers and simple accessories are always great. For fall mini sessions, wearing a statement necklace or a scarf is a great idea!4. How many people can I bring to the mini session?
The mini sessions I offer are only for immediate family members (approx. 5). No extended family. However, if you would like to take photos with extended family, we can definitely do that by booking a full session. That will allow us more time to coordinate a larger group of people together.
5. What is your cancellation policy?
Mini-sessions are non-refundable. Please make sure before booking that you are available on the date and time you book! If you absolutely cannot make your session and you cancel with at least 24 hours notice, you will receive credit towards a future session.
6. What happens if it rains?
If it rains, there will be a rain date. Rain dates are always announced before booking. Please make sure you are available for both dates. If for some reason, you cannot make the rain date and you cancel within a 24 hours notice, you can use the credit towards a future session.
7. Can I give my mini session to someone else?
Yes, of course, you can! You can gift or sell your mini session to someone else if you cannot attend.
8. How will I receive my images?
You will receive your images through an online gallery via email and will be able to download the digital files and order prints from there.
9. How long does it take for me to receive my online gallery?
You can expect to receive your images in about 3 weeks. I understand most of you will be using your images for your holiday cards and gifts so I will make sure to get them to you in a timely manner.
10. Can I purchase more images then what’s included?
Yes, you can purchase all the images from the session if you would like. To do this, please see the price guide for a price list and prints once your gallery is delivered.
11. I would like to schedule a longer session so I can have extended family in some of the photos. How do I schedule that?
To schedule a separate family shoot, you can email me at lynnet@lynnetperez.com.
Mini sessions are so fun to shoot and produce lovely photos. I’m excited for our fall sessions and can’t wait to capture many of you and your sweet families!
